4Very good product!  Apr 02, 2010
I bought this when I needed to upgrade my surge protector. I know this is NOT a surge protector but when I attached it to a new 2500 Joule rated surge protector it afforded me a way to connect all my peripherals. It's been a great convenience for me. Great product.

5Good Quality  Mar 03, 2010
The lights on my Proxima Power Director failed. I was looking for a suitable replacement.
I ordered one to check it out. I am pleased with the quality so I ordered a 2nd unit. Although this is not meant to be for computer use, but it serves the same purpose. Now I can turn off the TV, stereo, PC, printer, router, monitor etc when I do not use them.

4Great!!  Feb 06, 2010
This is a great device to save on electricity in a home theater setting, without the need to plug and unplug individual components (you can use some of them, but have the rest completely turned off). The savings from eliminating the draw of electricity just from the overnight standby mode of all my home theater devices, will compensate for it's price in a few of months. It's not component designed but it's blade ears are not to hard to hide (hope you get the hint, American DJ).

2Almost Perfect  Jan 30, 2010
Bought two of these for my home office. The cost of electricity just when up 38% per kilowatt hour by me. First strip is in an equipment rack controlling network gear like DSL modem, firewall, Enet switches, KVM switch, monitor, speakers. It's worked fine.

The second strip is in my office controlling the desk top PC, 3 printers with print servers, various USB hubs, speakers, monitor and such. A problem has come up when using it with the desk top PC. Using the power strip switch to turn on the PC causes the individual switch to fry. And it's stuck in the ON position with the light illuminated, not a failsafe design.

Happened to two positions on the power strip. Measured the peak and steady state watt draw of the PC, I'm and engineer and have such instruments, and it's way within the power strip specs. Using a different power strip with a switch on the PC has never been a problem, that's what I used before. Removed the laser printer from the power strip just in case.

I'll replace the power strip switches rather than RMA the entire power strip. Internally the wiring and outlets can handle the advertised load but the switches cannot.

3Decent for the money  Jan 15, 2010
The build quality is so-so at best, but if you are just looking for a simple 1U rack mountable power switch this is for you. FYI the plugs on the back are oriented such as that the ground prong is oriented in the 12 o'clock position. If you are planning on plugging bricks into it there's only enough room for the skinnier ones.

Cons:
-I too had a unit that had a bent rack mounting tab. However, it was very simple to bend back into position.
-The square on/off switches are not level. They tend to sit at a slight angle (they switches are slightly loose in the square slots they sit in.) If you are OCD about everything having to be level & even do NOT buy this switch... it will drive you crazy anytime you look at it.

Pros:
-It turns eight devices on/off independently.
-It has a 15A fuse is it (I would NOT trust it to provide adequate surge protection for sensitive electronics.)
-It's cheep.

It works decently for a temp power solution for the budget minded. If you use it with expensive computer equipment or musical gear I'd recommend spending a more and getting a higher quality product. I will most certainly be retiring this unit within the next year for a higher quality one.
